Chemical Peels
Literally millions of Americans have spent entirely way too much time in the sun and now they are paying for it with skin that looks older than they feel. Sun damage can force your face to wrinkle ahead of its time, but thanks to a facial chemical peel you can not only turn around the damage from over exposure to the sun, but you can also reverse the signs of aging.
Chemical Peels
It might not have the most pleasant sounding name in the world, but a facial chemical peel is a safe, commonly used method of treating acne, age spots, brown spots, large pores, fine wrinkles, bags under the eyes, and uneven skin pigmentation. The traditional chemical peel procedure involves the application of a chemical solution designed to smooth and exfoliate skin while removing its damaged outer layer. The formula for this solution changes depending on your skin, but usually involves a combination of different types of trichloroacetic acid, alpha-hydroxy acids.
Many of the compounds used in chemical peels are found in nature, such as Glycolic acid (of the alpha-hydroxy family), and Salicylic acid which is derived from certain fruits and plants. It assists in the skin treatment by stimulating new collagen and skin growth while allowing dead skin cells to fall off naturally.
As we age, our skin goes through certain changes. It thins and loses its elasticity, causing wrinkles and lines to form. In addition, aging skin has a tendency to become blotchy and freckled, especially if it has been overexposed to the sun.
The chemical peel is basically a way to remove damaged superficial layers of skin, exposing a new layer of healthier skin, resulting in a softer, more uniform complexion. In addition, a chemical peel may stimulate the growth of new cells, thereby plumping up the skin and helping to tighten it.
There are many different types of chemical peels, ranging from very superficial to very deep. The depth of the peel that the skin needs is dependent on the degree of damage the skin has, and the amount of discomfort the client is prepared to tolerate. In general, the more severely the skin is damaged, the deeper the peel you need to improve it.
Light and medium depth peels, using AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) create an excellent freshening effect, they will significantly help improve fine lines, they give the complexion a fresh, natural look particularly those under the eyes, since these are due to the thinning of the skin.
Freshening peels remove the damaged surface layers of skin and replace them with healthier layers from deep down in the skin. Therefore these peels remove a great deal of sun damage and can help create healthier skin.
Superficial peels can make significant differences in the quality of your skin; the trend is towards repeated superficial peels rather than medium or deeps peels.
Skin Rejuvenation
Ready for smooth, youthful looking skin but not ready for surgery? A chemical peel treatment could be just the solution that you are looking for. Chemical peels offer dramatic improvement to skin, reducing fine lines, age spots, scars and wrinkles and are a safe alternative to surgery.
There are three types of chemical peels: light, medium and deep peels. Which type of peel you get depends on your skin’s condition, and what works for your lifestyle.
Chemical peels use a liquid solution that removes the top layers of your skin, revealing new and smoother skin. Chemical peels can be performed on your entire face, specific areas of your face and also on the neck, chest, hands, legs or arms. Healing time varies, depending on the type of peel that is performed.
Sign of aging: dry, rough, wrinkly skin
Now there are anti-aging treatments designed especially for that area. Arms, hands and the décolletage are particularly prone to showing the signs of aging. Moisturizing after a shower and using sun protection can do a lot to slow the process but there are also anti-aging treatments specifically for the body.
Sign of aging: fine lines and wrinkles
A skincare product that contains vitamin A could help. Vivant’s vitamin A has been shown to penetrate deep into the skin to stimulate cell renewal and diminish the appearance of wrinkles. Ideally, you should start using it in your late 20s-early 30s to help delay aging but older skin should still see good results over time.

Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA’s) are a group of organic acids that have recently become popular in the treatment of a variety of skin conditions. Several of these acids are derived from fruits, so they are often referred to as “fruit acids.” For example, glycolic acid is derived from sugar cane, citric acid from citrus fruit, and malic acid from apples.

Jessner’s Peel:
Your skin is a living organ, made up of millions of cells. Everyday, thousands of cells dies, fall off and are replaced by new cells. This is a slow and haphazard process that doesn’t allow your skin to shed dark spots, sun damage and may contribute to a dull complexion. The advantage of receiving a Jessner’s Peel is that it gives you a good exfoliation of the epidermis layer of the skin. There is very little recovery time and it is suitable for most skin types. After the skin has finished shedding, you are left with a fresh layer of skin which should be protected from further aging and sun damage by using the post peel home care products.
